Move Your Living Room Outside

This weekend spend a little time on your deck or patio. Make outdoor chairs and ottomans comfortable with fluffy pillows and cushions lined in weather resistant fabric, and place an outdoor rug under furniture. (Enhance Floors & More has several outdoor rugs in-stock that you can take home with you today.) Accessories, container plants, art, and mirrors will make your exterior room look complete. Add end tables and a coffee table for convenient places to set food and drinks, and install outdoor lighting like lamps, lanterns, and candles to use after the sun goes down. A fire pit and an outdoor fountain add to the relaxed atmosphere.

Believe it or not, it is still officially spring. We are pretty sure that it has been summer for at least a month already! Here are a few ideas to help you get into the summertime frame of mind:

~reorient your furniture away from the fireplace to face a large window or patio door
~replace heavy drapes with sheer fabrics to let the sun shine in
~put away afghans and blankets on couches
~use fun summer accents like brightly colored vases, vintage glass bottles filled with sand or shells, funky antique frames, and wicker baskets
~floral prints and nautical themes have a great summertime feel
~fill bowls on your kitchen countertop with fresh produce
~float flowers in shallow dishes on the dining room table
~replace your bedspreads and comforters with lighter, less heavy fabrics
